Machine Quilting Double Stipple

I love a simple stitch for quilts that are to be used often and washed. This stitch is something to take a stipple a step further. It looks like ribbons or smoke to me. It also looks more complicated than it is, a wonderful magical illusion to make your quilt look awesome!  I have used this stitch many times over the years and here are a few examples of when I used this stitch to keep the quilt soft not stiff …. and times when I wanted the blocks to do the “talking” for the quilt not the quilting.

Hope this inspired you to do some free motion quilting!

Quilt on,
