Free Mystery Quilt Along!! I love them and this is a mystery sampler designed to be a skill builder so everyone (including beginners) can join in! You will revist many skills that are essential for making most quilts! Let’s practice our accuracy skills, 1/4 inch seams, color play and start planning our quilting from the very beginning. Scrappy blocks would be awesome! I would suggest making all the connector blocks from the same fabrics for consistency in the design. The connector block has been revealed and you can see this in week 2. This Mystery Quilt even has a name– New Beginnings this link is for week 1! I like starting a brand new year with lots of goals and motivation. Or if you are in the mid winter doldrums or funk this may be just the solution to regain your creative mojo!
Cut 5 red blocks 4 ½ inches
Cut 2 white blocks 4 7/8 inches
Cut 2 grey blocks 4 7/8
Making Grey/White HST-
Draw a diagonal line on white square and pair with grey square
Sew ¼ inch from diagonal on each side of the line , Cut on diagonal and square up to 4 ½ inches
NOTE: You could cut white and grey squares at 5 inches and make HST but you will have more squaring up to do after you sew
Arrange units as in the photo above. Sew units into rows then rows into the block.
TIP: Press your seams so they nest when you assemble the rows
